Pot Limit
This betting structure allows players to choose how much they would like to bet, up to a maximum amount of the value of the pot.

The maximum raise a player can make is the total amount in the pot + total bets of other players in the betting round + the call amount of the player. For example, if the pot is $50, the first player bets $10 and the second player calls $10, the third player can raise up to $80 ($50 in the main pot + $20 from past bets in the round + $10 of the player’s own call). The first player would need to call another $80 to stay in the pot.

If no player has bet, the minimum bet is the value of the ‘big blind’. If there has been a previous bet, the minimum raise must match the last bet. For example, if the first player bets $10, the second player can raise a minimum of $10. If a third player also wished to make a minimum raise, they could raise another $10 (although it costs $20 to call, the last bet was only a raise of $10).

No Limit
Often referred to as the most skilful form of poker, no limit poker allows a player to bet a maximum of all the chips they have on the table. The majority of poker tournaments are ‘no limit’, including the biggest tournament of them all - the World Series of Poker.

The minimum bet restrictions are the same in ‘no limit’ as when playing ‘pot limit’.
